But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray (Luke 5:16, NASB).

Our culture often sees “alone” as something negative. But, although we do need people, we also need moments of solitude.

There’s a big difference between loneliness and solitude. While loneliness leaves us feeling isolated, Jesus shows us that when we intentionally set aside time to spend in solitude, we can use it for prayer, grieving, decision making, and rest.

We can separate ourselves from distractions and find connection, intimacy with God.

So ask yourself: Do I need some solitude today? Your ability to influence others with the love and grace of God is directly proportional to the vitality of your intimacy with Him. Remember that the moments Jesus went away to pray were what empowered Him to do what He did and follow the leading of the Father.
