Takeaways from This Episode

I firmly believe that if we are following Jesus wholeheartedly, we will also be leading other people to him.

I don’t think any one of us can think that we are exempt from being tempted by pride. It comes in so many different subtle forms. I think that’s why Scripture constantly says, humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and in due season he will exalt you. It is a constant decision, daily.

Be very quick to give glory to God for everything that happens because truly, it’s because of him, it’s through him, it’s in him, and it’s for him. It’s remembering why we’re doing what we’re doing. Remembering that without him we are nothing. Remembering that all things are possible with God—not without God.

As a leader you’ve got to have the gift of saying “no.” It’s a grace. You don’t have to say yes to everything. Again, I come down to this: do the things that you’re called to do. And the degree to which you are willing to say no, and able to say no, is the degree to which you’ll really be able to fulfill your purpose.

The truth is, if your going to run your race and you’re going to finish your course, then you’re going to have to learn to say no effectively

We only have a finite amount of time, a finite amount of energy, a finite amount of resources, and we want to maximize that for the glory of God.

You’re going to go a lot further, for a lot longer, with other people than you ever will by yourself.

When I talk about empowering others, it means trusting others with areas of responsibility and giving them stewardship.

The degree to which you are willing to empower others is the degree to which you are willing to grow.
