Persistence Brings Harvest

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9, ESV).

It’s really hard to keep at something when you aren’t seeing any results. But there is a purpose to the process that God calls us to and brings us through.

I love the analogy for this process in 1 Corinthians 3:6–9 of the seeds and water. The Apostle Paul writes, I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

This passage helps us understand that, in most cases, though we may start something, we likely won’t be the only ones playing a part in the finishing of it. This is all done so we’ll remember that God is the one who makes all good things happen, and to Him be the glory for it all!

Let me encourage you today to remain persistent in the things you are doing, not for your own glory, but for the Lord’s and the expansion of His Kingdom. For in due season you will reap!
